Problems with Gaco Shield Colors

Problems with GacoShield Coloring

We were excited to try the GacoShield product as it was supposed to have a 50 year lifetime. We called the company to see where we could get some of their product. The rep asked what city and state we lived in and we told him Austin, Texas.  They do not have a distributor here in Austin, Texas so they pointed us online to make our purchase. The representative asked what color we wanted and we stated we wanted  a dark gray and the representative said that would be no problem. He pointed us to their color chart HERE, where we could choose.  We chose the Pewter color and he said we would need to get the White Base product so it would match that color.  He said we would have to take it to Benjamin Moore and they would be able to color it using the Gaco Shield color guide.  We ordered two 5 gallon buckets of the white base with walnut chips for texture.

You can see one of the 5 gallon buckets here the we received.

After receiving the bucket we went to Benjamin Moore to get it colored. Benjamin Moore had no idea about the Gaco Shield product.  Because its important to get the correct die colorant i called Gaco Shield on a Saturday. A sales agent by the name of Wendy answered the phone like it was her cell phone, well it was her cell phone. The number we called was the number on the 5 gallon bucket, an 800 number that must have been forwarded to her.  Either way, I told her the predicament and she said that is no problem. She said she would call us (Benjamin Moore and myself) back because she needed to call someone else which I assume is someone that knew what die formula we needed. No problem we said since she was helping us and going to get the information we needed.

Well, the issue we have now is that the formula she gave Benjamin Moore was not only the WRONG formula but now we have 10 gallons of GacoShield that is ruined and the color is a BABY BLUE. There is no way anyone would paint their deck a baby blue. See below:

The reason why it is wet is because we had to power wash off the GacoShield because we thought (hoped) it may dry a darker color.

The product never got darker so we had to power wash the product off our deck.

Now we are stuck with 10 gallons of this product and awaiting a response from GacoShield. I have called their number and left a message about our issue but still have not heard back from them.

Stay tuned as we find out if the GacoShield Company is going to solve this issue because we cannot afford to spend another $400 on product when we followed instructions exactly.
